Dangerous Goods Handling

This course provides an all encompassing view on the carriage of dangerous goods with an emphasis on road transport and the management of substances in a warehouse situation. It is designed for those staff involved in the handling of dangerous goods as part of their daily routine, plus those involved with on-site HS & E. An introduction to the Hazardous Substance and New Organisms Act 2001 (Hazardous Substances) is also featured. This course is a must for all warehousing and distribution personnel.

Subjects that are covered during the day are:
• The Legislation
• General requirements for shippers
• The classification of dangerous goods
• Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Labelling and Marking procedures
• The Shipper’s Declaration and other relevant documentation
• An Introduction to the Hazardous Substances & New Organisms Act 2001.
• Personal Protection Equipment
• Spill clean up and Disposal
• Identification of dangerous goods
• Packaging requirements
• Storage and Loading procedures
• The requirements under NZS 5433:1999
• Spill Management and Control
• Control and Containment of spills
• Step by step action plans
• Risk Management and Incident Investigation

ALL COURSE MATERIAL WILL BE SUPPLIED

Course Requirements:
Cancellations made within 7 days of the course date will be subject to a $95.00 cancellation fee. Non-attendance, without notification, will incur full course cost.
